Dazzlehands Soundtrack Release, CANZ Composer's Workshop with the NZSO, a 48-Hour Film Festival Award; it’s been a busy couple of months since my last newsletter at the end of June.

One of the exciting things I've been working on is a new ballet for kids called Dazzlehands. Based on the children’s book of the same name, Dazzlehands is about a pig who, much to the chagrin of the farmer, won’t say ‘oink’ and instead says ‘Dazzlehands!’

Today I am really excited to be sharing the album Shortland Street - Original Score Highlights 2023. Consisting of 17 tracks totaling approximately 50 minutes, this album is a snapshot of my past year of work.

I've just released a music video that shows the violin recording we did for the score of Butterfly, set against a few shots from the film.

With the year wrapping up, and Christmas nearly upon us I want to look back at this year and all the projects I was fortunate enough to be a part of.

In this newsletter, I have a couple of updates and two local film festivals coming up that I will be attending. But, mostly, I want to encourage you to check out Shortland Street tonight, as tonight’s episode is something special…

In this Newsletter I turn my attention away from Shortland Street (which is going really well), and towards two short films that have just been released publicly and can be now watched; The Generation Gardener and You’re Out!

Don’t worry I’m not in a real hospital. I have a fun cameo in tonight’s and tomorrow’s Shortland Street episodes as a patient who needs a lung transplant. Luckily my character is unconscious for all their scenes, which suits my acting ability perfectly!

This week airs the massive midwinter specials of Shortland Street, three insane episodes dropping on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, featuring some intense drama, and some intense music. 

Big life update: I’ve accepted a job as the composer on the long-running medical drama soap opera Shortland Street.
