Selected Scores

Follow The Light is a 2023 short fantasy film. Set against the backdrop of Māori mythology; it is an indigenous take on the fantasy genre.

I collaborated with Mere Skerrett who contributed the sounds of taonga pūoro and wrote an original karanga for the film. These indigenous instruments are woven into the overall musical tapestry, creating a sweeping and emotionally charged score that transports the listener to a world of magic and wonder.

The Generation Gardener is a 2023 documentary, directed by Luke Ross, about the struggles and life of a local Aotearoa bonsai artist.

The score features the unique and beautiful playing of clarinet player Joshua Buckler, who brought his special touch to the project.

DEAD is a 2020 horror-comedy feature film directed by Hayden J Weal and starring Thomas Sainsbury. I wrote the music with the accomplished New Zealand film composer Tom McLeod and the legendary electro punk rocker Jimmy Urine (from Mindless Self Indulgence).

The score is a crazy orchestral adventure, complete with pounding synthesisers and epic operatic choirs!

You're Out is a 2022 queer-themed, genre-aware short horror film directed by Chaz Harris.

The film pays tribute to slasher classics like Scream and Halloween. For You're Out, we drew inspiration from these influences but added rock and metal guitars as a special element in the score.

High Tide Don’t Hide is a 2021 feature documentary following the School Strike for Climate in New Zealand.

The subtle score features processed recordings of whale songs, the trumpet playing of Chris Winter, a blend of ukuleles, and guitars, with a felted piano, and to literally capture the voice of the moment; vocals from Sophie Hanford, the national coordinator of The School Strike 4 Climate in New Zealand.

The Death of Hector is a 2023 epic peplum fantasy short film that retells the epic duel between the Homeric heroes Achilles and Hector during the Trojan War.

The soundtrack features fierce chugging cellos against an epic fantasy score.

Hudson Hemisphere is a 2023 science fiction time travel short film.

The film takes the audience on a journey through time with a musical score that draws upon romance, science fiction, and Spaghetti Western inspired showdowns.

Our Money is a 2022 short documentary directed by Luke Ross.

The film follows 83-year-old activist Helen Drew as she attempts to establish a local currency in rural Carterton.

The score is an integral part of the film, and conveys a wistful and nostalgic tone to colour the backdrop of a small sleepy rural New Zealand town.

Shortland Street
Original Score Highlights 2023

Consisting of 17 tracks totalling approximately 50 minutes, this album is a snapshot of the past year of drama told through its original underscore.

From the departure of fan-favourite TK Samuels, to the carnage of Milo Cross' violent assault on the hospital, to the murder of Rahu Parata on the operating table of Harry Warner, the soundtrack album gives the fans of the show a chance to relive these memorable moments through the show’s music.
