Newsletter #5 - Not A Real Hospital
Kia ora everyone,
Time has been flying. My 50th episode of Shortland Street recently aired, and it has been such an incredible few months.
Having previously been on a contract for an initial three months, I have been asked to sign onto the show permanently, which I have now done— Here is to another 50 episodes, and many more after that!
Don’t worry I’m not in a real hospital. I have a fun cameo in tonight’s and tomorrow’s Shortland Street episodes as a patient who needs a lung transplant. Luckily my character is unconscious for all their scenes, which suits my acting ability perfectly!
New Soundtrack Release
I have just released the soundtrack to a peplum fantasy short film called The Death of Hector, which retells the epic duel between the Homeric heroes Achilles and Hector during the Trojan War. This film was made by Alfio Leotta and Cameron Madams, the filmmakers behind Follow The Light, which is the fantasy short film we did together at the end of last year.
I had fun writing epic fantasy music, with some chugging cello— it is a very different musical world to Shortland Street.
What’s coming up?
My good friend Luke Ross directed a short documentary called The Generation Gardener for Someday Stories, I am looking forward to sharing the music for this film. The score features the incredible clarinet playing of Joshua Buckler, and is quite different to anything I’ve done before.
Thanks so much for reading!
